Designing a typeface

To help students understand the craft, utility and value of typefaces as well as appreciate the type designers who’ve painstakingly labored to make them part of our cultural landscape, each student designs an original, working typeface inspired by a Newhouse professor or staff member. The initial shock of this seemingly impossible, semester-long task eventually morphs into disbelief at having done it, with their efforts resulting in usable font files and an annual exhibit.
